How It Began

​​​​​​​In October of 1988, The Impact Group was formed as a general agency. Within two years, we were offering the earliest versions of F&I presentation software to dealers nationally. F&I was at the end of its formative stage and the days of the "wild west” were over. The business was in a real, evolutionary need of structure, consistency, transparency, and accountability. Impact was hired by dealers to restructure their variable operations on a performance basis, without desking deals or making customer F&I presentations ourselves. If our coaching was effective and the dealer’s profits improved, we got paid. Technology played the central role.

What informed that 1988 moment was the experience of making of thousands of retail F&I presentations as a producer and a director, training dealers as a Pat Ryan District Manager in a metro market, and supporting a 100-dealer Toyota distributor in the Mid-Atlantic. Operating in the F&I world from all those varying perspectives breathed soul into the technology. Truly understanding the complexity and difficulty of the F&I position drives you to want to make things easier for today's F&I professionals. That’s our promise and our guiding principle. In fulfilling that obligation, we built the kind of company we all wanted to work for.
